Catholic Korean immigrants celebrate new home on Staten Island

 And speaking of Church restoration:


"In a modern-day version of the Exodus, Roman Catholic Korean immigrants on Staten Island finally have a church and community center of their own after close to four decades of shuttling between Island parishes.

The Korean Catholic Apostolate of Staten Island is spending about $1 million to renovate the former St. John Baptist de La Salle church, rectory and school on Jackson Street at Beach Street in Stapleton. The complex will be the first permanent location for the apostolate, which has been on the Island for 36 years"
